At the 2011 Representative Assembly, NEA delegates voted to increase dues by $10. Here are the facts:
Fact: The $10 dues assessment passed at the 2011 NEA RA is for one thing and one thing only--to help states fight the legislative and ballot measure attacks that will surely intensify. The money is NOT used for political contributions to candidates. These are two entirely separate funds, as required by law.
Fact: All of the money that goes to any federal candidate is raised voluntarily from members--it does not come from dues money. PAC contributions by our members are entirely separate from dues.
Fact: The Obama campaign does not accept contributions from PACs, so NEA obviously will not give PAC money to the campaign.
