Transition Plan for closure of Hellbeck and Spann Elementary Schools; relocation of Somerlid Elementary into Freed MS; and the movement of 6th grade from MS to elementary schools*.
· Teaching Positions will follow students if at all possible.
· HR will identify all teachers and verify endorsement areas of teachers in closing buildings and transferring 6th grade staff.
· Principals will complete the in-building transfer process upon approval from Human Resources.
· HR will identify vacancies in the receiving schools, as well as vacancies district wide.
· A meet and greet celebration will be scheduled for the weeks following intercession in April upon return from spring breaktentatively scheduled for April 17, 2012. This is designed such that Principals and transferring staff may meet and discuss assignment possibilities.
· Teachers* will receive a list of vacancies at the meet and greet from which they may apply for transfer.
· HR representatives will go to buildings to meet personally with each transferring teacher. Teachers will annotate a roster with their top three (3) choices for positions to be filled.
· HR consolidates the annotated rosters and assigns teachers based on the current agreement.
· HR and/or PEA reps visit each building and notify each teacher of their reassignment.
· Assigned teachers meet with the gaining Principal and two teachers selected by the staff within five (5) days of notification to formalize the assignment. Issues will be collaboratively resolved in accordance with the negotiated agreement.
· HR processes all personnel actions upon acceptance of the final assignment.
· Teachers are responsible for relocating all personal items.
· Teachers will pack District property with packing materials provided by the District (e.g. text books, curriculum equipment) using the June 1st teacher workday. If additional time for packing is required, teachers will be compensated for up to 8 hours additional time at the hourly rate. Teachers will have access to buildings for packing purposes on Saturday, June 2, 2012 if necessary. Packing must be completed by 5:00 PM on Monday, June 4, 2012. For Spann, packing will occur on the June 13th, teacher workday, with additional time available on June 14th and 15th. All packing is to be completed by 5:00 PM on Friday, June 15th.
· The District is responsible for moving properly labeled District items to the new location.
· Article 13-1-4 of the current agreement will be modified in that the May 7 and July 15 dates for transfer requests are waived for dislocated/relocated teachers only. These teachers may apply for transfer to an advertised vacancy in another building up to and including August 10, 2012.
